The Hotel Piet Hein is set in an ornate red brick building and overlooking Vondel Park. The hotel's late 19th century exterior belies its modern design inside. The 60 rooms are decorated in simple modern style, with a contemporary nautical theme: wooden furniture and simple neutral fabrics. All rooms have cable television with an in house movie system, Internet connections (fees apply) and safes.
The hotel has a stylish bar and lounge area, painted in pale colors with deep sofas, where guests can unwind with a drink, read or watch television. From Central Station, take tram number 2 or 5 and get off at the Van Gogh Museum; turn right at the traffic lights, take the third street on your right the hotel is on the right. Much of Amsterdam can be explored on foot although trams run throughout the city. More adventurous visitors may wish to hire bicycles.
